If you can get past the absurd premise that Clint Eastwood could infiltrate the Soviet Union simply because he can speak a little Russian (due to his Russian mother), then you’ll accept all of the other absurdities about Firefox with glee. Clint plays a former Air Force major who sneaks behind the red curtain to steal the MiG-31, code-named “Firefox,” which is capable of going Mach 6 (that’s pretty fast), is invisible to radar and — best of all — has weapons that are controlled by the pilot’s mind. Clint is great, squinting and snarling his way through Mother Russia (and the air above), but the jet fighter is the real star of the show — even though time has not been too kind to the flying scenes and other special effects sequences, the Firefox itself remains a mighty beast, comrade.
